Boho Apartment Interior Design in Marbella
A natural, textural interior inspired by Southeast Asia
This apartment in Marbella-Estepona New Golden Mile was designed by Tania Tsygel as a warm and characterful retreat, shaped by the owner’s long-standing connection to Southeast Asia and his appreciation of its nature, craftsmanship and relaxed way of living.
Rather than following a strict decorative style, we created an eclectic interior built around natural materials, tactile textures and handcrafted pieces. Warm timber, woven fibres, natural fabrics, earthy tones and carefully selected patterns come together to create a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere with a distinctly personal character.
The result is a contemporary Mediterranean home with a global influence — natural, tactile and relaxed, but carefully considered down to the smallest detail.
A Personal Approach to Bohemian Design
For us, bohemian design is not about filling a space with objects, colours and patterns. It is about creating a carefully considered composition in which different materials, cultures and references can coexist naturally.
The owner’s connection to Southeast Asia became an important source of inspiration for the project. Rather than reproducing a particular regional style, we interpreted this influence through materials, craftsmanship, organic forms and a sense of relaxed living.
This approach allowed the interior to feel personal and authentic rather than themed.
Natural Materials and Handcrafted Details
Natural materials play a central role throughout the apartment. A large number of the wooden furniture pieces and decorative elements were handcrafted, bringing warmth, variation and a sense of authenticity to the interiors.
The natural imperfections and variations of timber add character, while woven fibres and organic materials create a visual connection between the different spaces.
This material palette is balanced with contemporary elements, including the modern kitchen and cleaner architectural lines. The contrast between refined and rustic materials gives the apartment its distinctive character.
Layering Texture Instead of Colour
One of the key design decisions was to create visual richness through texture rather than relying heavily on colour.
Natural timber, woven materials, upholstery, rugs, cushions and soft fabrics are layered throughout the interior. Different surfaces catch the light in different ways, creating depth while maintaining a calm and cohesive palette.
This approach is particularly effective in a Mediterranean setting, where strong natural light can emphasise the tactile qualities of materials throughout the day.
Living & Dining Area
The open-plan living and dining area forms the social heart of the apartment.
The contemporary kitchen provides a clean architectural backdrop, while the living and dining areas introduce warmth through natural timber, soft upholstery, woven elements and carefully selected decorative pieces.
The furniture arrangement creates a comfortable environment for both everyday living and entertaining. Rather than relying on a single statement piece, the space was composed through a combination of shapes, scales and textures.
The result is relaxed but sophisticated — an interior that feels collected over time rather than decorated according to a single trend.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom continues the natural and tactile language established throughout the apartment.
Warm timber, natural fabrics and layered textiles create a calm and intimate atmosphere. The combination of different textures adds depth while the restrained colour palette keeps the room peaceful and understated.
The bedroom was designed as a private retreat, with comfort and materiality taking priority over unnecessary decoration.
Guest Bedroom
The guest bedroom follows the same overall design philosophy while introducing its own combination of patterns, textures and natural materials.
Handcrafted elements and soft textiles create a welcoming atmosphere, while the carefully controlled palette keeps the room connected to the rest of the apartment.
The result is a relaxed guest space that feels considered without appearing overly formal.
Terrace Lounge & Dining Area
The terrace extends the interior concept outdoors, creating two distinct areas for living: a relaxed lounge and an outdoor dining zone.
Natural materials, comfortable textiles and organic forms help establish a visual connection between the interior and the surrounding Mediterranean environment.
The terrace was designed not simply as an extension of the apartment, but as another place to live — whether enjoying a quiet morning, relaxing in the evening or entertaining guests.
The Design Approach
The project was developed around three fundamental principles:
Natural materials

Instead of relying on strong colours, the interior gains depth through the combination of wood, textiles, rugs, upholstery and woven elements.
Personal identity
The Southeast Asian influence reflects the owner’s personal connection to the region, creating an interior that feels authentic and individual rather than conventionally themed.
A Contemporary Home with a Global Character
The finished apartment demonstrates how different cultural references, materials and design influences can be combined without losing visual harmony.
For us, successful eclectic interior design is about editing as much as it is about adding. Every material, piece of furniture and decorative element needs to contribute to the overall composition.
In this Estepona apartment, natural materials and handcrafted furniture provide the foundation, while contemporary elements bring balance and clarity. The result is a warm, sophisticated and highly personal interior that reflects both the character of its owner and the Mediterranean setting.
